Forest Therapy

Reconnecting to the Earth

In our day to day lives we are pulled in multiple directions and left feeling disconnected from ourselves and also from our environment. Studies provide ample evidence that our health can be enhanced when we experience sustained feelings of well-being and when we create joyful, meaningful lives. There are many ways to go about creating and maintaining good health, and one way is by reconnecting to the Earth and its natural vibrations.

Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing (shinrin-yoku), is the Japanese tradition of going into the forest to share in the healing properties of nature. Through natural sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures, we restore, rejuvenate, and maintain our vibrant health. Time spent among the trees is known to ease stress and worry and increase mental clarity and creativity.

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, the average American now spends 93 per cent of their time indoors. This means only one-half day per week is spent outside. We know that being outside can help us maintain our health and well-being, and we know that maintaining our well-being is critical to a grounded and centered life. By engaging in Forest Bathing with a certified practitioner you will find yourself reconnecting and becoming centered and empowered to live a life full of well-being and joy.

Research studies from around the world shine the light some of its many benefits:

  • Reduced stress hormone production
  • Improved feelings of happiness
  • Increased creativity
  • Lowered heart rate and blood pressure
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Accelerated recovery from illness
