Exploring the healing partnership of your mind/body system
You’ve probably heard of PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and its long-lasting effects.
But you may not know that PTSD and other traumatic effects can disrupt not just lifelong behavior, but also physical health.
For example, trauma survivors have been documented with these related physical effects:
- Vision disorders
- Musculo-skeletal pain
- Sexual dysfunction
- Racing or erratic heartbeat
And past trauma is often behind current:
- Anxiety and depression
- Anger and guilt
- Inability to concentrate
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a widely accepted trauma therapy that can address all of these issues.
Developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine, this therapy is based on in-depth studies in neuroscience, medical biophysics, stress physiology and psychology – and 40+ years of clinical application.
SE focuses on the client’s bodily sensations, how they may relate to past traumas, and how to improve unhealthy physical and emotional responses.
Linda earned her certificate in Somatic Experiencing at Dr. Levine’s renowned Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and has been an SE practitioner (SEP) more than five years.
